2012 ROSATO OF SANGIOVESE

2013 Amador County Fair             Silver Medal

89 Points and Best Buy, Wine Enthusiast, June 2013

“…consistently delicious wine.  Made from Sangiovese, it smells sweetly floral and minty and is very inviting, structured with a sly touch of spice on the finish.  Very good on its own, it’ll also pair well very with shellfish or cheese, and is the perfect companion to a picnic.”

2009 ESTATE AGLIANICO

2013 California State Fair            Silver Medal

2013 Orange County Fair            Silver Medal

2009 ESOLA VINEYARD ZINFANDEL

2013 California State Fair            Silver Medal

88 Points, Wine Enthusiast, June 2013

“From 62 year-old, dry-farmed vines the Esola Zinfandel is leathery, full of tobacco and dust surrounded by spicy red fruit.  With great structure and savoriness, it’s soft with a light, lingering finish and will develop further with grace another 5-7 years.”

2011 GRENACHE

2013 Amador County Fair            Silver Medal

88 Points, Wine Enthusiast, June 2013

“…its first ever Grenache, a tremendous debut, super light in color and texture, lightly rendered to show off its layers of delicate violet and raspberry amid a meatier backbone of lurking anise and herbs.  With 9% Mourvedre and 5% Syrah, this is a light red worth seeking out.”

San Francisco Chronicle, March 31, 2013

“This Plymouth winery’s first Grenache is light and straightforward, with just enough extraction for pretty strawberry blossom and peach notes – immediately enjoyable.” – San Francisco Chronicle, March 31, 2013

Glowing Comments in Opus Vino

Jim Gordon’s new masterpiece, Opus Vino, is the first major wine book since Hugh Johnson’s Atlas of Wines published in the 1970s.  It is about 800 pages and covers over 4,000 wines world wide.  The focus is on producers with consistent high quality, as well as rising stars.

Amador Foothill Winery  Amador County
The husband – wife team of Ben Zeitman and Katie Quinn release the finest single-vineyard Zinfandels in the Sierra Foothills.  The elegance for which these wines are known is also evident in one of the few clear and vigorous Sangioveses to emerge from the Foothills, and in the complex Katie’s Cote, an almost 50/50 blend of Syrah and Grenache.  The Semillon comes close to these, but others do not quite attain the same level.
